Estalagem do Caramulo is located in central Portugal, near Viseu, in the municipality of Tondela. Caramulo is within easy reach of Coimbra, Viseu or Aveiro.

Founded in the 1950īs, the museum of Caramulo displays a collection of paintings, tapestries and chinese porcelains from the Ming dinasty amongst other interesting objects.
The car museum, first of its kind in Portugal, gathers a collection of Rolls Royce which transported the american president Eisenhower, Pope John Paul II and Queen Elizabeth II from England, the Cadillac which belonged to the Portuguese dictator Oliveira Salazar and other models from the 19th century, as well as a more recent Ferrari F40 and other interesting models.
Serra do Caramulo is well known for its termal fountains and woodland. This region has long since been sought out as a cure for lung and breathing ailments. The highest point in the Serra, Caramulinho, which is 1074 meters above sea level, offers excellent views to the surrounding forest and it is even possible to see the mountains of Lousa, Montemuro and Estrela.
On the hills, wander the Roman pathways past dolmens and menhirs placed there in the distant mists of early history.
