Hotel Quinta do Viso is located in Miranda do Corvo, on the west coast of central Portugal.
Miranda do Corvo used to be a fortified town although today little remains of its 12th century fortress. The castle, having lost its strategic importance, was abandoned and its rocks were used to build the town houses and main church.
Accordingly to the locals, this town was also the border between Christians and Moors. The village of Semide has an Arab origin meaning "Flower of the flour".
Coimbra, the provincial capital, is about 15 minutes drive away. It is the birthplace of six kings and the seat of Portugal's first university, reputedly the second oldest in the world.
Its old cathedral is one of the finest examples of Romanesque architecture in Europe.
The small Hotel Quinta do Viso has a total of twenty one bedrooms and one suite, all having views over the town.
The menu at "Retiro da Quinta" restaurant features typical dishes of the region. There is bar with a large terrace offering beautiful views over the valley.
Guests can enjoy the outdoor swimming pool while younger residents can se the children's playground.
The inn has facilities to hold small meetings or private functions.
Lisbon airport is about ninety minutes drive away with almost the whole journey being by motor way. Porto (Oporto) is about 200 kilometres to the north.
