Estalagem Lago Azul stands, surrounded by woodland, on the right bank of river Zezere, a tributary of the Tagus river.
Here the river is an enormous blue lake formed by the Castelo de Bode dam. which has become one of the most appealing areas of Portugal.
The nearby town of Ferreira do Zêzere is peaceful town with some very fine large houses.
The beautiful Parish Church contains fine paintings and sculptures.
A short distance from Ferreira do Zezere is Tomar with its Templar Castle and the Convent of the Knights of Christ.
The strong links to the military order of the Knights Templar, an unique period in the history of the western world and one of the most important chapters of Portuguese history, resulted in the town being classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
The Castelo de Bode lagoon is used for a wide range of water activities under the hot sun.
