Hotel Fatima.

The Fatima Hotel was built by a traditional family of the region and started just as a souvenir shop and restaurant. Due to the increasing demand for accommodation near the Santuary the souvenir shop and restaurant later became a guest house.

As the years went by, the national and international recognition and devotion to the Sanctuary of Fatima grew.  The Guest House was then transformed into a hostelry and later into the Fatima Hotel. The building was modernized to be able to receive the ever growing number of religious pilgrims arriving to Fatima every year.

Fatima's history changed forever in 1917 when the Virgin Mary appeared to three peasant children and over a period of five months, revealed three secrets to them.
As news of the miracle spread, people from far a field travelled to this sacred place and still do to this day. Pope John Paul II visited the local abbey on his pilgrimage to Portugal.

The huge Basilica contains the tombs of two of the children, and a small chapel has been built on the site of The Apparition. The story of Fatima is related in the local wax museum and has been adapted to cinema.

Hotel Fatima has a total of 93 rooms including 18 double, 6 single, 3 junior suites and 6 suites. All bedrooms are fully equipped with air conditioning, satellite television, radio, mini bar, safe and hair dryer.

The Hotel's restaurant offers the renowned local regional food as well as a variety of international dishes.

Hotel Fatima has 10 meeting rooms, all with natural daylight, totally fitted with audiovisual and communication equipment and a lobby bar which may be used for commercial presentations or exhibitions. Also available at the hotel is a business center.

In the region around Fatima there are many important monuments in Portugal's history. Just a few kilometers away are 3 Unesco World Heritage Sites: the Alcobaca monastery, the Batalha monastery and the castle and town of Tomar.
